On the water
Gin-clear water through red rock where you watch the fish decide before it eats.
Two-tone the foam so the underside is the orange a fish looking up actually sees. The top colour is for you.
Slap it down hard against the rock walls. Cicadas fall in, they do not land, and the fish know the difference. Green River fish see a lot of flies, and the ones that keep working are the ones tied for the water rather than for the bin.
Every fly is tied by hand, one at a time, on the hook listed above. No two are identical and none of them came out of a machine.
