On the water
Flat, clear spring-creek water where the fish get a long look and usually take it.
Fan the wing a true half-circle. A comparadun with a narrow wing rolls onto its side on the first drift and never rights itself.
Mid-morning into afternoon, to fish holding tight under the weed lines. Henry's Fork of the Snake fish see a lot of flies, and the ones that keep working are the ones tied for the water rather than for the bin.
Every fly is tied by hand, one at a time, on the hook listed above. No two are identical and none of them came out of a machine.
